Units of Measure configuration allows you to setup the exact quantities an item is sold in under a particular type of unit of measure.
Items are uploaded with a Unit of Measure type associated with them. The "UOM" header in the Items file is used to determine which type of unit of measure an item will belong to.
In the example below, 2 types were created: volume and weight. In the Excel file in the UOM file, indicate one of these types.
All the types will appear in the unit of measure tab under Items.
You then need to create "amounts" for each type of unit.
Select one of the measurement types that were created, and click on the "+" .
Add a Code, Name and Multiplier for the unit of measure you are creating.
Code and Name can be identical. The multiplier determines the price of the unit of measure when it is added to the cart.
If you created 3 units of measure for the type "Volume" - they are multiples of the first unit.
500mL = 1 unit
1.0 L = 2 units
1.5 L = 3 units
You must select the tick box "Pricing Unit" for one of the units you created, so that this will indicate the base price per multiplier factor.
The price listed for the item code will be the base price.
Continue creating as many units of measure as required for each measurement type.
When placing an order on the iPad Catalog, if you select an item that is associated with units of measure, you'll be presented with a list of the units you created, select the quantities and the price will be multiplied accordingly.
Example1: (There is another example below that will show how to work with decimal quantities in weight)
Item price uploaded: €21
Code: 500 mL
Pricing units tick box: Selected
If the price uploaded for an item was €21, and the 500 mL unit of the item has a Multiplier value of 1, then €21 will be added to the cart for each unit of 500 mL.
The unit of 1L should have a Multiplier value of 2, and then €42 will be added for each 1L unit ordered.
The unit of 1.5L should have a Multiplier of 3, and then €63 will be added for each 1.5 unit ordered.
If you want to be able to order non-whole amounts of pounds, for example 2.25 lbs, 7.8 lbs, etc. . .
Create 2 units of measure, one for whole number of pounds and one that will allow ordering of a non-whole number of pounds.
In this example, the price of the product is $3.00 per pound. The uploaded price for the item code is $0.03.
Unit of Measure 1 (UOM1):
Item price uploaded: $0.03
Code: 1 lb
Pricing Units tick box: NOTselected
Unit of Measure 2 (UOM2):
Item price uploaded: $0.03
Code: 0.01 lbs
Pricing Units tick box: selected
When a quantity of UOM1 is ordered the price 0.03 will be multiplied by 100 for each quantity ordered.
To order 5 lbs, enter 5 for the quantity of UOM1, and the price would be (0.03 * 100) * 5 = 15
To order 2.25 lbs, order quantity 2 of UOM1 and quantity 25 of UOM2, and the price would be:
UOM1: (0.03 * 100) * 2 = 6
UOM2: (0.03) * 25 = 0.75
TOTAL: $6.75 for 2.25 lbs
To order 7.8 lbs order quantity 7 of UOM1 and quantity 80 of UOM2 and the price would be:
UOM1: (0.03 * 100) * 7 = 21
UOM2: (0.03) * 80 = 2.4
TOTAL: $23.40 for 7.8 lbs
