It's convenient to see the total line count of the order at the bottom of the cart and/or the PDF copy of the order.
You can add the Total Item Count field to appear in the shopping cart footer or PDF footer, or in the order details form or PDF Header. These instructions explain how to activate the field and add it to the layout you require.
Note: to add the field to the shopping cart footer, you must be using the New Order Center for this configuration to be supported.
1. Activate the Total Item Count Field
The Total Item Count field counts the number of lines in the order (NOT the total quantity of items).
Go to Settings -> Sales Activities -> Transaction Types and edit the Transaction Type you wish to activate the field for (typically it will be "Sales Order").
Go to the Fields tab and open the Finance Fields section. Make sure the Total Item Count field is activated. If it is grayed out, then click "+" in order to activate it.
2. Add the field to be displayed in the layout you require. Configure the Minimized Footer Field, the PDF Footer, or Order details or the PDF Header to include the Total Item Count field (from the Finance Fields section).
If you would like the field to appear in the shopping cart footer, you can choose only 1 field to appear in the cart footer, so this would be it. The default field that appears in the footer is the order Total.
Here is how the field is displayed in the footer on the shopping cart:
In the Views and Forms tab open the "Footer" section. Edit the profile for which you want the field to appear.
Add the Total Item Count field to the footer. The layout is limited to display one field, only the first field you add will appear. Any additional fields you add will be ignored.
To add the field to the PDF footer, Order Header or PDF Header, open the corresponding form in the Views and Forms tab of the Transaction and add the field to the layout where you want it to display.
Sync your device and you will see the Total Items Count appear.
