The Main Category (also called Brand) is the highest level grouping of items in your catalog.
The Main Category tab is where you Add, Edit or Delete your Main Categories, as explained below.
You may also assign multiple ID's to one Main Category, thereby allowing items to be loaded that are associated with additional names for the same category. For example, you might have items in your ERP under a brand called "Accessories" and items under a brand called "Accessories (B)" that you want to group under the same Main Category within Pepperi. You can add "Accessories (B)" as as an additional name for the Main Category. For instructions see below.
The process of uploading items via the Excel mapping as well as via ERP integration automatically creates main categories, although sometimes the need to create them manually may arise.
Main Categories/Brands are displayed for users to choose from within the catalog in Alphabetical Order.
Go to Items -> Manage Items
To Add a new Main Category click the "+" Add button.
Enter the Name of the Main Category and upload an icon to be presented for the Main Category in the catalog menu.
* Months of warranty,Brand Instructions and Warranty Certificate information are not required (for use with VOS only).
* Vendor details are not required, they are displayed in this window only for your reference.
To Delete a Main Category, you should change the Name and ID first, so that if you ever want to add a main category with the same name/ID you won't run into data integrity problems.
After changing the name and ID to a different value than before, you can select it and click on the Delete button.
Tip: Instead of deleting a Main Category that you may need again later on, you can always remove it from a filter - see Managing Filters - or from a sales rep's access - see assigning main categories to sales reps in this article Manage Users - rather than deleting it.
To Edit a Main Category select it and click on the Edit (pencil) button.
To add additional ID's to the Main Category, so items loaded with additional Main Category names may be associated with this Main Category:
The Group Name's "Name" field is, essentially, just the display text for that group.
To the right of the group's settings is a section dedicated to the 'Main Category ID', these IDs - accessed by the 'Pencil' icon indicated by the grey arrow - are the actual values by which Pepperi recognizes the group whenever you're uploading an items file so these are the values that need to be found in your uploaded file.
1) Press the 'add' button - Red arrow
2) Enter the desired ID value on the newly opened text box - Orange arrow
3) Press 'Save' in the ID window - Green arrow
4) Lastly, don't forget to press 'Save' on the group's settings window as well - Purple arrow
Once you've created the relevant group IDs by following the above procedure, re-upload the items file and all your items should appear.

How do you change the order of the brands as I would like a certain brand to appear first on the drop down list when viewed on an iPad?
Anthony - the Brands are displayed in alphabetical order. At this point they can't be sorted otherwise. You can put the letters A,B,C and so forth as a prefix to the brand names to control the sorting.
Thanks for the response. I worked that out but thought there may be another way.
@Anthony
If you feel this requirement on your part, you could suggest it as a feature for our upcoming versions. This and anything else you may find useful for your work.

Brands are important. Please add a label to the brand icon in the ipad version
@Johnny
Brands fall under the hierarchy level we call Main Category. I have updated the product screenshots in this article to reflect that.
Main Category is the highest level grouping of the items - Brand, product type, or any other grouping you wish.
Merav
What are the Maximum number of categories we can create for our cataloge.
Thanks
Umesh
