If you have sales reps working in different countries or with customers that speak different languages and you want to configure the fields and information about the items in the catalog and information about customers to appear in the rep's language, you can do so using the Profiles function.
Please note that this functionality differs from the Multi-lingual translations available in Pepperi because the multi-linguial translation files provide translation per rep based on the language of their tablet for the field titles, not their value.
Using Profiles to determine the fields displayed will show the reps the field value you uploaded in a particular language, regardless of the language of the tablet.
You may use both of these features in conjunction if you would like both field titles and field descriptions to be language specific.
For details on Multi lingual translation files see: Multilingual configuration - Translation Files.
To implement the fields based on Profiles you'll need to upload fields containing the item and customer information in the different languages, in addition to your default language. For example, map an item description in your default language to the Item Description field, and then map item properties or custom fields with the same description in the additional languages you require.
Do the same for more item fields you need in languages - such as Item Long Description, or any other textual information that needs to be in multiple languages.
You will then configure the catalog views of each profile to contain the fields relevant to their language.
For example you may have custom fields:
French_Item_description - appearing in the catalog view for the "French Rep" profile
Spanish_Item_description - appearing in the catalog view for the "Spanish Rep" profile
To implement this functionality you will need to:
- Upload the additional properties or custom fields to be used for each profile in the languages required in your items Excel file, or if you are using automatic ERP integration of your data to Pepperi, include these fields in your ERP system to be exported to Pepperi.
Either use the Property1 - Property8 fields (these are 8 user defined fields that you may load any data you wish, or create custom text fields for items) or create custom fields.
- Create a Pepperi user Profile for that language - for ex. "French Rep", "English Rep", "Spanish Rep". For details on creating profiles: Profile Management
- Configure the catalog views of each profile to contain the relevant fields (also detailed in the article Profile Management )
Now when the users assigned to the Spanish Rep profile log in to the app they will see the Spanish fields configured in their views, while the French and any other language profile users will see the fields configured in their views in their respective languages.
