Once the admin has installed the Package Trade Promotions Add-on, and completed the additional installation instructions detailed here: Package Trade Promotions Installation Guide, users can begin configuring Package promotions in the editor.
Open the editor using the shortcut button on your homescreen (or the link provided to you by the admin).
If you are an admin user, you can access it from the Settings section in the Webapp.
Package Setup Overview
To add a Package Promotion you will need to define the following tabs:
Package info - the package is represented by what in Pepperi is an "Item", displayed in the Order Center. This Package Item is what users will click on to order the items in the package. In the Package info, you will "create" this Package item, giving it a Name, Description, Main Category, and image.
Transactions - Define in which Transaction Types the Package will be available. For example: Packages in the B2B Commerce only, or packages for pre-sales orders only
If no transaction types are entered, the package will appear in all Transaction Types.
Note that if you don't install the Package Promotion module on a Transaction Type, all packages will be seen in that Transaction Type. Once the Package Promotion module is installed, the rules for which packages should be shown or hidden are added.
Accounts - define a filter for Accounts that this package will be available to.
Promotion details - define the message, validity, and tier rule(s) for the package. For example:
Get all the items in the package for $25.
Select up to 5 items from the package (phase 1) and select 2 items for free from another list of items (phase 2).
Available Items - define which items will appear in the package (this tab refers to phase 1 of the package, if the promotion has 2 phases, for example select 10 from the first phase and then get 2 from the second phase free, you'll also need to define the available items for "Additional Selected Items" - example below). Items will be available in the first phase based on the rules defined here.
If multiple rules are defined, then items which satisfy any of the rules will be available (logical OR).
A "Group" item rule is satisfied when all the conditions in that group are satisfied (logical AND).
For example:
If the package items available for selection are Adult items OR Gender =Masculine items the rules will be listed as separate item rules like this:
If the package items available for selection are Adult items AND Gender =Masculine items the rules will be listed as "Group" item rules.
Tick the "Group" box, and enter the rules in the Group items rules screen:
This guide explains how to configure several example packages that will help you understand how to implement your packages in the editor.
Package Promotion Examples:
- The user can select any 3 items for $20 from a list of items (1 phase)
- The user selects any 2 items and gets 1 free, and ALSO gets a display unit free (multiple Incentives for the same quantity).
- The user selects 5 items from a list and then may select 2 items for free from another list (2 phases).
- The user buys $500 from a list, and gets up to $50 of free items from another predefined list (2 phases).
- The user buys 3 preselected items for $20 (predefined kit)
Package Info and Accounts definitions
For each Package you will need to define the general tabs of Package Info and the Accounts the package should be available to.
Package Info
Name - this is the name of the package, which will be displayed where Item Name is displayed in the Order Center views.
External ID - this is the unique ID assigned to the Package Item. There will be a default entered, you can leave it unless you have a good reason to change it.
Description - enter a description for the customer to understand the package deal they are being offered. The description will be displayed in the same place all your other items have their description displayed (typically in the item details page).
Main Category - select a Main Category for the item. You may want to create a Main Category just for Packages, or include each package in the Main Category that its participating items belong to. This may depend on the way you have your catalogs and filters set up.
Image - load an image to illustrate the package
Accounts
Define Accounts eligible for the promotion. If no Accounts are selected then all Accounts will see the Package item in the Order Center and be able to order the promotion.
Add properties of Accounts and select values to define the filter. All Accounts satisfying any one of the "Available" rules will be eligible (logical OR).
In this example: all Accounts with PaymentMethod = Cash OR LocationType=Salon will be eligible for the package, except for a specific Account named "Look de Luxe".
Now let's define the Package info and the Available Items for each example:
1. The user can select any 3 items for $20 from a list of items (1 phase)
Define Package info and Accounts tabs for this package (see above).
Then define the Promotion Details and Available Items as follows:
Promotion Details
This screen shows the values required for the promotion details for this example:
When the user clicks on the package item in the catalog the promotion will look like this in the order center:
Title - a name you give to the promotion for your reference in the editor.
Message - a message that will pop up when selecting the package explaining the promotion, and what quantities should be selected. It is also displayed at the top of the selection screen at all times for the user's reference.
The user will be notified with pop ups if incorrect quantities are selected, indicating how many items to add/remove to reach the promotion tiers.
Validity -
Enabled between dates - enter Valid from and Valid to dates. If no dates are entered the promotion will always be valid.
Disabled - disables the promotion
By - determines which property will be used for the tiers count.
Price - the promotion will apply based on the amount of money purchased. If selected then fill in the value for Price in the Promotion tiers below.
Quantity - the promotion will apply based on the item unit quantity ordered. If selected, then fill in the value for Quantity in the Promotion Tiers below.
Distinct Items - the total quantity of the items selected should be comprised of unique items, and not multiples of the same item. For example: select 3 distinct items, means 1 each of 3 different items (and not 2 of one item and 1 of another).
Can be used (#) of times (0 is 'Unlimited') - allows you to limit the amount of times the package can be added per order.
Tiers - define the rules of the promotion. Add as many tiers as you need to define the full offering of the package.
Quantity rule -
Equal - the quantity must be exactly equal to the value
More than - the quantity can be greater than or equal to the value
Multiple of - the quantity is a multiple of the value
Quantity - the value of the quantity (depending on what was chosen in the "By" - this could refer to item quantity or item price)
Limitations allow you to define additional conditions which must be satisfied by the selected items in this phase of the package.
If you need to enforce additional limitations on the quantities selected for the package, click on Edit Limitations.
For example, if 10 items should be selected from the package phase 1, however 5 items must be selected from 2 different Main Categories/Brands, then indicate this in the Limitations, by entering a quantity rule for each Main Category/Brand.
Get -
Discount (%) - a discount on the items selected
Price - pay this price for all the selected items
Additional Item - get an item at a discounted price (or free) when ordering this package of items (the item is defined in the next screen)
Additional User Selected Item - select an item at a discounted price (or free) from a list of items (defined in the next screen)
2. The user selects any 2 items and gets 1 free, and ALSO gets a display unit free (multiple Incentives for the same quantity).
Multiple incentives are supported for the same quantity. For example:
Select 2 items for $10 + a free display unit
In the Promotion Details simply enter the same quantity for both incentives:
3. The user selects 5 items from a list and then select 2 items for free from another list (2 phases).
The user will select 5 items from a list (as in the example above), and will get 2 free items that they will select from a second list.
This type of Promotion also supports Multiples - so if a user selects 15 (5*3) from the first list, the free items will automatically be multiplied to 6 (2*3). See the instructions below on how to implement support for multiples.
The Promotion details for this type of Package will have the following values:
By - Quantity
Quantity rule - Equal
If you wish to include the case of multiples of 5 as well, then for the Quantity rule select "Multiple of" instead of "Equal". The amount of free items to select will then be multiplied by the multiple of 5 as well.
Quantity - 5
Get - Additional user selected items
To define the additional user selected items, click Edit.
Additional user selected items
In this example the additional free items will come from the Product Type Moisturizers, excluding one specific moisturizer which I do not want to enable the user to select for free, by its item code Skin033A
Title - the title of the page (can be the same as the message text, because while the message text will disappear after the user clicks OK on the pop up, the title it remains on the top of the page and serves as a reminder to the user)
Message - message displayed upon opening the additional items for selection.
For example: "Select 2 items for FREE!"
In the case that you want to support Multiples (see above) - to make sure the user knows how many free items to select, you must include a placeholder in this message.
Include {0} in the message, and it will be replaced with (amount of free items indicated) X (the multiple of the selected items from the first phase).
For example: Select {0} free items
If 15 items (5*3) were selected from the first list, the message will read "Select 6 free items"
If 25 items (5*5) were selected from the first list, the message will read "Select 10 free items"
Quantity rule - Equal
Quantity - 2
Get - Discount (%)
Value - 100 (free)
Product Type = Moisturizers
Default quantity - that will be filled in for each item is 0
Excluded items - Item with ExternalID Skin033A
4. The user selects 5 items from a list and gets the cheapest of those for free
If 5 items are selected as follows:
ItemA - $12.50 QTY 2
ItemB - $13.75 QTY 1
ItemC - $14.50 QTY 2
The shopping cart will show:
1 ItemA x $12.50
1 ItemA x $0.00 (free cheapest item)
1 ItemB x $13.75
2 ItemC x $14.50
Set up the Promotion details as follows:
In the Additional Items select "Use the cheapest item" and indicate how many of the cheapest item is free or discounted.
5. The user buys $500 from a list, and gets up to $50 of free items from another predefined list (2 phases).
Set up the promotion details as follows:
By=Package Fixed Price
Price=500
Get=Additional user selected Items
Click Edit and in the Additional user selected Items select "By=Price", Rule: "Up to, Price=50, Get=Discount (%), Value=100"
Continue to define the Available Items by any field in the Promotion and in the Additional user selected items.
6. The user buys 3 preselected items for $20 (predefined kit)
Define Package info and Accounts tabs for this package (see above).
In this example, the items in the package are already preselected. This is an example of a "kit" that you can build to sell groups of items together, for a fixed price or at a discount.
The Promotion details for a predefined package look the same as for a non-predefined package - like the example above "Select any 3 items for $20" . The difference lies in the Available Items tab, where you will need to define default quantities for each item.
The items are defined specifically by Item Code (or by another field that will filter only the items in the kit). The default quantity in the case where the items are defined by item code is 1, meaning the quantity cannot be modified, because it will result in an incorrect total of items (the kit includes 1 of each).
If your kit includes varying quantities of each item, then you will need to set the defaults and to make sure the user can't modify the quantity. Your Pepperi admin will need to change the quantity field in the transaction type to read only (Pepperi admin should refer to the Packages installation guide Advanced configuration instructions).
