Data Index
Index the fields that will be used as the source data for your queries and dashboards.
Indexes are used to quickly locate data without having to search every row in a database table every time the table is accessed.
The data will be exported to an Elastic database for use when viewing graphs. Elastic database is optimized for speedy access of data.
Index all the fields you wish to use in your graphs and charts - Transaction/Activity, Account, Sales Rep, Transaction Line, or Item fields.
It's important to add any custom fields you may be using in your Transactions/Activities. For example, custom fields (TSA) for the Transaction total, UnitQuantity, or Total Unit prices. Make sure to add those fields, and not the default Pepperi fields. If you have multiple Transactions/Activities you want to report on, make sure to select the custom field names for all of those Transaction types.
Click Publish to export the data. Publishing the Data Index takes time. Wait until the publish is completed before testing your queries.
You can schedule the Publish to take place at a future time if you have a large amount of data, and don't want to put a load your data operations during business hours.
Indexing Fields
Go to Settings -> Insights -> Data Index
Activities & Transactions
In this tab you can select to index header fields such as:
- Transaction GrandTotal
- Transaction SubTotalAfterDiscount
- Transaction UnitsQuantity
The default fields that are already indexed are listed first. Make sure to index any custom fields (TSA) you may be using in your Transactions/Activities that you wish to report on.
Transaction Lines
In this tab you can select to index Transaction line fields such as:
- UnitsQuantity
- TotalUnitsPriceAfterDiscount
The default fields that are already indexed are listed first. Make sure to index any custom fields (TSA) you may be using in your Transactions/Activities that you wish to report on.
Click Publish to start the indexing process. Indexing can take a while. Wait for the index to complete for fields to be available for creating queries.
You will need to Publish each time you index new fields.
Clicking Publish without making any changes to the fields will result in no action. To re-publish data, delete the indexed data and click Publish.
Delete Indexed Data
You can delete the Indexed data if you want to change the data in your dashboards. Maintaining the indexed data efficiently is important for dashboard performance.
